Badges have many advantages to the individual wearer, to the company or to just about anyone:
In business today in whatever field perfection is necessary to overcome competition that is an extremely healthy part of the market. A simple badge has the effect of completing a uniform and completing a company’s image.
A personal name badge helps to break any communications barrier encouraging much better working relationships within a company structure. On a shop front the customer, staff relationship is improved which is vitally important to the selling of a product. If a member of staff has a badge informing the customer of the person’s identity then the customer can be less formal by using the person’s name. From a different aspect if the member of staff is wearing a badge then there is no question that the member of staff is available to assist. Moreover if a customer has a complaint or even a recommendation then there can be no dispute of the person’s identity.
Company logos create a visual "jingle”• A badge can highlight the logos leaving a psychological imprint subconsciously promoting the company. The "golden arches" of McDonalds is a good example of this. Every successful company has a corporate identity which is not only conveyed by the logo but also by colour identities .Boots is a good example of this being blue and white, Harrods is green and gold and so on which is emphasised on a name badge.
Security in the present day is ever more important. A past case of a woman walking out of a hospital with a young baby hospital all members of staff, patients and visitors are to carry some form of identity. The government intends for everyone to carry an identity card in the fight against terrorism and crime. On a more commercial street level shop lifters would be more aware of the staff presence deterring them from their criminal exploits.
