Minature Fun!

Wednesday, April 25th, 2012

Well, everyone has been posting about their fun this month. I’m going to the Scottish National Scale Model Show this weekend. It runs the 28th and 29th of April.

It is two days of checking out the model traders, model clubs, and special interest groups that are all involved with the hobby of scale models. And yes…I wear my executive name bag!

Rubber Eraser Day – April 15th

Sunday, April 15th, 2012

Ed Secutive here! I’ll take this one…Today is Rubber Eraser Day, which celebrates the invention of erasers. We all make mistakes. This day is designated to recognize and appreciate the value of that little plug (as manufacturers call them) that sits atop our pencils.

To err is human, an eraser is divine!

Where are you from? If you have an orgainization that has workers from all around the world, then think about embracing your melting pot. There are many hotels that put the country of origin of its employees on their badges. Consider personalizing your employees with their hometown.

Badges and little stickers

Saturday, March 24th, 2012

Ed Secutive here with a great idea for monthly meetings. I went to one of my monthly business club meetings, and they had started a new tradition. We all have name tags at these meetings, but they have started putting a red dot sticker on the name tags for those who are attending the meeting for the first time, a yellow dot for those who have only been a couple times, and green dots for those of us who frequently and consistently attend.

It really helped us make the newbies fill at home, and to get those of us who are always there the opportunity to make new contacts. Try something similar at your next monthly meeting. It can be done on all kinds of name tags, whether they are temporary or permanent tags.

Ed here with one last tip for the month.

If your organization’s name badge is well designed, it will constantly keep your company’s brand, logo and corporate culture in the minds of your customers and prospects.

Remember, it’s not who you know, but who knows you.

If that sounds like a good name for book, in fact it is here

Keeping Up With Name Badges – 5

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012

This is Ed Secutive taking over again with our 5th hint for this month.

It is important to stress to employees that a name badge identifies the wearer as an ambassador of the company. They must be accountable for any behavior while they are wearing the name badge. As they serve as an ambassador for your company they can either promote good feelings and create more business, or the reverse can happen and the actions of one person can have an incredibly negative impact on your business.

In this time of social media, you don’t want twitter and facebook buzzing about an employee that acted inappropriately. Make sure to mention this in initial training, and in ongoing training sessions.

Random Acts of Kindness Day!

Friday, February 17th, 2012

Ed here. Normally I hate all the stupid, bizarre, so called holidays. But Random Acts of Kindness Day is actually something that I enjoy. I just love buying a drink for the person at the end of the bar, a cuppa tea for the lady standing behind me, or leaving a small boquet of flowers on the doorstep of a complete stranger.

I have a few more ideas to try this year, There is actually a website called www.randomactsofkindness.com and a foundation that goes with the website. They offer all kinds of ideas.

My lists includes:

Offering to babysit my sister’s kids, at my house so she can have an evening at home, alone. Something she says she never gets.

Orgainizing a group to clean up some graffiti

Being super vigilant about opening doors for people

Have a great day!

Ed Secutive again with some more thoughts on using name badges within your organization.

Having employees wear a name badge will makes it easier for customers to find an employee and get their attention if they need service. It is often uncomfortable for customers when they ask, “Do you work here?” and the answer is no. Help your employees stand out so that customers can easily find someone to help them. If they can’t get help, they may go somewhere else where they don’t have to guess who the employees are.

Here are some tips on name badge etiquette

Ed Executive here with a few thoughts on using name badges in today’s world. We all know how competitive it is out there. Name badges can help set you above your compition if you train your employees to not just put on the name badge, but a company attitude.

Wearing a name badge in the retail, hospitality, food service, or sales industries is all about being approachable. It is important that your workforce understands that wearing a name badge means that they represent the best of your organization. This means that they are ready to serve your customers and do an effective job.

I’ll have more tips on why a name badge can set your orgainization apart in the next few weeks.
