World Health Day – April 7th

Saturday, April 7th, 2012

Pam Plastic here, today is world health day. The theme for 2012 is “Ageing and Health.” I don’t know about you, but that certainly is ringing bells with me this year.

Although, if I had to create a button for this event it would be something like:

How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you were?

Jazz Hands!

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012

Hi, all! I will be spending the Easter weekend in Nantwich. This is always a big weekend as musicians and tourists from around the world descend on the small town to enjoy the Jazz, Blues and Music Festival or “The Nantwich Jazz”. It goes the 5th – 9th of April.

I’m wearing my name tag and seeing how many new friends I can make!

International World Thinking Day

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012

Pam Plastic here. As a former girl guide, I would like to remind everyone that today is International World Thinking Day.

This day is celebrated by Girl Scouts, Girl Guides and other girl groups with the objective for girls all over the world to think of each other, and to give thanks and appreciation to “sister” Girl Scouts and Girl Guides. It is also taken as time to consider health issues that are important to girls and young women.

You don’t have to be a Girl Scout or a Girl Guide to participate in this day. Rather, we encourage all females, young and old, to learn a little more about health issues today. If you are in a position to provide education and training on health issues, do so today. If you can not conduct it today, then schedule it for some time in the near future.

This day, February 22nd, was chosen because it is the birthday for both Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of the Boy Scouts, and his wife Lady Olave Baden-Powell. Lady Baden-Powell who founded Girl Guides.

Keeping Up With Name Badges – 3

Friday, February 10th, 2012

Pam Plastic here. Ed asked me to take a few of the tips for using name badges to help your company be competitive.

The tip for today is that in retail, you have to be able to make a “friend” just a few seconds after someone walks in the door. One of the easiest ways to do this is to inform and remind customers of your employees’ names. One of the easiest ways to do this is with a name badge. Even if you have your employee great every customer with. “Hi, I’m Ashley, let me know if I can help you in any way,” customers typically won’t remember her name. The name badge will make it easy for them to address the employee. This promotes self-disclosure and creates comfort in the conversation. And when you put your customers at ease, the sales process will be more personable.

Another Great Name Badge Story!

Friday, January 13th, 2012

Hi it’s Pam Plastic, the story on the name badge guy was great. I found another success story on an American name badge site.

This guy Jeff Mangus, is in real estate. He believes that his name badge helped to land the largest listing he had ever had.

He had rushed out of the office, with his name badge on, to take his son to the dentist. The dentist noticed the name badge and eventually gave him a very large listing.

Neat story! Read more about it here:

More Bizarre January Holidays

Sunday, January 8th, 2012

January 8 – Male Watcher’s Day. I can get behind this one…if you know what I mean. Great places to guy watch include the pub, the mall, and depending on the weather…the beach.

January 10 – Peculiar People Day. This day is to honour those uniquely strange people in your life. I know a few of those…

Janurary 11 – Step in a puddle and splash your friends day! One of my favourites! I wonder if I’ll get a card for Peculiar People Day?

Party Crush

Monday, December 19th, 2011

Pam Plastic here, I was at a weekend bash for the holidays and boy do I wish people were wearing name tags. I knew about five souls by name out of over fifty. I was the only one with a name tag, and let me tell you…at the end of the party everyone knew my name! Sadly, I don’t know theirs…

Great hostess idea…make the guests wear name tags!
