Happy Leap Day!

Wednesday, February 29th, 2012

All of us at Simoney urge you to do something on your bucket list on this 2012 bonus day.

Something I will bet you didn’t know, Leap Day is every fours years….almost. It’s every four years except years ending with “00″ that are not divisible by 400. The year in which this occurs, is called a Leap Year.

This is a year where we get an extra day, this year it is a Wednesday. Someone needs to pass a law that the leap day is on a week end, and its an extra day so it should be like a second Saturday.

Not sure that makes sense, anyway…happy leap day!

Tuesday, February 28th, 2012

Billy back again. Hope you are enjoying this as much as I am!

1. Veni, Vedi, Visa: I came, I saw, I did a little shopping.

2. This isn’t an office — It’s Hell with fluorescent lighting.

3. Stress is when you wake up screaming & you realize you haven’t fallen asleep yet.

4. I plead contemporary insanity.

Keeping Up With Name Badges – 6

Sunday, February 26th, 2012

Ed here with one last tip for the month.

If your organization’s name badge is well designed, it will constantly keep your company’s brand, logo and corporate culture in the minds of your customers and prospects.

Remember, it’s not who you know, but who knows you.

If that sounds like a good name for book, in fact it is here

International World Thinking Day

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012

Pam Plastic here. As a former girl guide, I would like to remind everyone that today is International World Thinking Day.

This day is celebrated by Girl Scouts, Girl Guides and other girl groups with the objective for girls all over the world to think of each other, and to give thanks and appreciation to “sister” Girl Scouts and Girl Guides. It is also taken as time to consider health issues that are important to girls and young women.

You don’t have to be a Girl Scout or a Girl Guide to participate in this day. Rather, we encourage all females, young and old, to learn a little more about health issues today. If you are in a position to provide education and training on health issues, do so today. If you can not conduct it today, then schedule it for some time in the near future.

This day, February 22nd, was chosen because it is the birthday for both Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of the Boy Scouts, and his wife Lady Olave Baden-Powell. Lady Baden-Powell who founded Girl Guides.

Keeping Up With Name Badges – 5

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012

This is Ed Secutive taking over again with our 5th hint for this month.

It is important to stress to employees that a name badge identifies the wearer as an ambassador of the company. They must be accountable for any behavior while they are wearing the name badge. As they serve as an ambassador for your company they can either promote good feelings and create more business, or the reverse can happen and the actions of one person can have an incredibly negative impact on your business.

In this time of social media, you don’t want twitter and facebook buzzing about an employee that acted inappropriately. Make sure to mention this in initial training, and in ongoing training sessions.

More Unique Lanyard Ideas!

Monday, February 20th, 2012

Larry back, the last post generated a whole host of suggestions from my fellow travelers. One man I spoke to uses a lanyard when he travels to hold his camera, another one attached his to a little pouch that holds his passport, and other travel documents. Not to mention that several told me that they slip a little cash into everything from an id carrier, to a pouch, to a waterproof plastic container and attach it to the lanyard.

Really good ideas!

Keeping Up With Name Badges – 4

Saturday, February 18th, 2012

Roger Reusable here, its my turn to add to Ed’s name badge hints.

If you have an orgainization with hundreds of employees, imagine how hard it is for the workers that see each other everyday, but can’t quite remember a co-workers name? Often their uneasy feelings will mean they avoid making contact with that person. Having a name badge for everyone will help ease their pain and contribute to a happier and more friendly workplace.

Random Acts of Kindness Day!

Friday, February 17th, 2012

Ed here. Normally I hate all the stupid, bizarre, so called holidays. But Random Acts of Kindness Day is actually something that I enjoy. I just love buying a drink for the person at the end of the bar, a cuppa tea for the lady standing behind me, or leaving a small boquet of flowers on the doorstep of a complete stranger.

I have a few more ideas to try this year, There is actually a website called www.randomactsofkindness.com and a foundation that goes with the website. They offer all kinds of ideas.

My lists includes:

Offering to babysit my sister’s kids, at my house so she can have an evening at home, alone. Something she says she never gets.

Orgainizing a group to clean up some graffiti

Being super vigilant about opening doors for people

Have a great day!

Things That Should Be On A Button – 2!

Wednesday, February 15th, 2012

More great stuff that should be on a button!

1. I want it all. And, I want it delivered.

2. I want to die in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like the passengers in his car.

3. When blondes have more fun, do they know it?

4. If you can’t be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.

So many things that should be on a button, so little time!

Happy Valentines Day!

Tuesday, February 14th, 2012

From all of us at Simoney, we hope you have a great Valentines Day whether you are alone, as part of a couple, or doing some group thing.

Valentine’s Day is a celebration that goes back to ancient times, when people paid honor to the Roman God of Fertility. Then known as the Feast of Lupercalia, it was still celebrated on February 14th.

The traditions of Valentine’s Day include exchanging cards or small gifts such as chocolate and jewelry. And lets not forget the flowers, people.
